Tree pollarding

Tree pollarding is a method of pruning which keeps a tree smaller than it would naturally grow. Once a tree reaches the maximum growth that you want, annual pollarding will keep that tree at a certain height. Unless carried out by a tree surgeon however, you risk damage to your tree. Atkinson Tree Surgery of Milton Keynes are experts at tree pollarding along with the similar crowning and thinning.

In addition to restricting the height of a particular tree, pollarding will also promote a dense head of foliage and branches. The removal of the upper branches of a tree, essentially what pollarding is, will encourage a spurt of new growth.

  • Mr & Mrs Jacobs – Leighton Buzzard

“After dealing with other tree surgeons in the past may I just say having your team of gentlemen work on my trees has been a pleasure. The whole process with applying for work to be carried out on my tree that has a T.P.O, and the finished height reduction could not have been done any better. You handled all the paperwork and liaising with the local council so well that I in fact would like to commend the young gentleman who handled it for me. I will certainly be calling you again soon when I need any more work and I will definitely be recommending you."
